Shaping their own future
The idea took shape at a time when independence across the financial services industry was beginning to disappear. Consolidation was accelerating, and independent firms were increasingly being absorbed into larger organizations with different systems, priorities, and ways of doing business.
A group of advisors decided they did not want to wait for that to happen to them. They approached Clive Slovin and asked him to help establish an independent broker-dealer they could help build and call their own.
They were not interested in trading one acquisition for another. They wanted a voice in the company they were building, an ownership stake in its future, and a firm designed around the needs of independent advisors.
Architected around independent advisors
Rather than building another consolidator, they built infrastructure. The kind that handles the areas that challenge most independent firms on their own, like compliance and due diligence, the pieces that slow advisors down when there's no one to call.
SFA Partners started with 40 advisors. Today, our community includes approximately 120. Many of the original advisors are still with us, and some have since passed their practices on to their sons and daughters who are now building their own businesses here.The principles that mattered on day one still guide us today: independence, access, collaboration, and the freedom to serve clients and build a business with confidence.
Strategic Advisory Council
The Council, made up of a diverse group of advisors, varying in practice size and makeup, geographical location, and more, acts as liaison between the advisor community and the Home Office, and provides insight on the specific needs of the independent financial advisor.
Women Advisors Network
SFA Partners female advisors meet throughout the year, both virtually and in-person. The women-only dialogue is unique in that it offers a particularly supportive environment for building relationships and sharing personal and business development strategies.
